Each September, Pitlochry becomes the stage for one of Scotland’s most beloved cultural celebrations—the Pitlochry Highland Games. The 2025 games start on Saturday, 13 September. 

Hosted at the Recreation Ground, the gates open at 9:30 am, with the festivities running until about 5:30 pm.

From the heavy events like caber toss, hammer and stone put, to the spirited competitions in Highland dancing, solo piping, tug-of-war, and cycling, the Games offer a full day of authentic Highland sport and artistry. 

One of the real highlights is the Pipe Band Parade—bands march down Atholl Road at around 11:30 am before massing for a grand finale at 5 pm, showcasing the thunderous, soul-stirring sound of Scotland’s bagpipes.
