The History of Heathergems

Part 1 Heathergems the company started in 1970, however, they have been produced since the 1950's. Hugh Kerr, a craftsman from Glenlivet was originally producing flooring from beech wood. After the Second World War as wood was rationed an alternative raw material was needed. Hugh Kerr developed the idea and started to use heather to produce the floor tiles.  This proved a timely and expensive process so he decided to make smaller pieces thus the Heather jewellery began.
