The History of Heathergems Part 2

Part 2 Hugh Kerr produced a limited amount of Heathergems, which were sold through two or three shops in the Highlands during the 1960's. In the late 60's he met Mr Charles Buyers a Glasgow accountant who was looking for small manufacturing or craft businesses to be set up in the Wick and Caithness area on behalf of the Highlands and Islands  Development Corporation. Mr Buyers took the idea to the HIDB who rejected it saying it had no future. Mr Buyers decided to back Hugh Kerr himself and the company was set up in a small factory in East Kilbride in 1970.
